The site is informational
Everything here — writing, books, project notes — is provided for information. It isn’t professional, legal, medical, or financial advice, and reading it doesn’t create a client relationship. An engagement begins only under a separate written agreement.
Getting in touch
Booking a call or emailing tom@tomrankin.net reaches a real person. Please don’t send confidential, sensitive, or protected information that way — it isn’t a secure channel, and nothing you send through it is treated as confidential until we agree otherwise in writing.
SMS
Text messages are sent only to people who ask for them directly, in writing or on a call, and provide a mobile number. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help. The full program disclosure is at /messaging; how we handle your number is in the Privacy Policy. Consent to receive texts is never a condition of contacting us or of any purchase.
Acceptable use
Don’t attack the site, scrape it into a nuisance, impersonate anyone, or use it to break the law. Automated traffic is blocked and rate-limited.
Intellectual property
The writing, book text, images, and code presented here belong to their authors and are not licensed for reuse by default. Ask — the answer is often yes.
Third-party services
This site relies on Cloudflare (hosting), Google Calendar (booking), and Twilio (text messages, only on opt-in). Their handling of data is covered in our Privacy Policy.
Disclaimer
The site is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t promise it will always be available or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
